Recorded auction sales of Simmental bulls and females and Simbrah bulls during 2005 demonstrated their increasing popularity and demand to boost herd productivity.

Despite serious drought conditions over a wide area of eastern Australia, the rising popularity of Simmentals resulted in good sales results throughout.

2005 Sales    (to December 31, 2005)

At the 31 auction sales in 2005,  

 *  543 Simmental bulls sold to a top price of  $25,000 and an average of $4,131.
 *    68 Simbrah bulls sold to a top price of  $14,500 and an average of $5,355.
 *  415 Simmental females sold to a top price of  $7,750 and an aver of $2,331.

Top price honours for Bull Sales in 2005 have been:

    $25,000 for Monreid Yardstick, by Waterfront Tasman sold to consortium 
     led by GlenAnthony Simmental Stud, Waipukurua, New Zealand, May 2005
 
    $23,000 for Woonallee Yosemite Y69, by Grimich Park Primus S52 sold at
    the Woonallee/Waterfront Simmental stud sale, Furner, SA in February to
    Lynmar Simmental stud, New Plymouth, New Zealand. 

The sales results, outlined below, demonstrate continuing growth in demand for Simmental breeding stock over recent years. Higher clearances and higher average prices at auction, have been repeated in many private on-farm sales.
