A fitting farewell dinner for Peter Speers |
|
During the proceedings of the Sydney Royal Show, the president of the Australian Simmental Association, Bill Almond hosted a warm farewell dinner for the retired CEO, Mr. Peter Speers. The event was held at the Arena restaurant at the Novotel, Homebush Bay and with many colleagues, family and friends present, the evening was a fit send off to a devoted comrade of the Simmental Association. All in attendance were there in appreciation of Peter’s hard work and dedication in assisting the advancement of the Simmental breed in Australia. Throughout his 20 years with the Association Peter set a very high standard and in his diligent manner made many close friends along the way.
With Peter’s wife Robyn and son David in attendance on the night, the council took the opportunity to present Robyn with a floral arrangement on behalf of the Associations members. This was followed by a presentation to Peter of a wall clock which Peter later commented would remind him of the Association’s generosity every time it chimes. As the night drew to a close, it was a good chance to catch up with old and new friends reflecting on the past 20 years and discussing plans for the future. While we all wish Peter and his wife Robyn all the very best in retirement, we hope that Peter will reflect on his 20 years with the Association as an enjoyable one. We also hope that Peter will continue to take an interest in the breed’s progression and stay in touch.
