A unique event occurred during the Simmental judging at Royal Melbourne Show, when judging was temporarily suspended for special presentations.

The President of the Royal Agriculrural Society of Victoria, John Fox, made presentations of the President's Medal to three Simmental Association Members to commemorate their efforts in exhibiting for 50 years at Melbourne Show and contributing their services to the seedstock industry over these years.

The highly coveted President's Medal was awarded to:

Mel Ryan, Glenview Del Simmentals, Glenburn, Vic

Phil & Marie Hampson, Rochester, Vic.

The awards came as a great surprise to the recipients and were widely applauded by the large audience present for Simmental and Shorthorn judging.

Significantly, Gina Ryan, Glenview Del Simmentals, Glenburn, Vic was awarded this medal last year.
