Simmental Bulls Sell Strongly at Rockhampton

Simmental bulls faced strong demand and achieved excellent sales results at the third BCM bull sale at Rockhampton in early September.

The BCM Group and invited vendors were delighted with the sale result which saw a 100% Clearance of 56 Simmental bulls for an average $4,509 and 100% clearance of 4 Simbrah bulls for a $3,750 average.

Vendors were Rob & Viv Laycock, Clay Gully Simmentals, Esk; Rodney and Elisabeth Skene, Meldon Park Simmentals, Jindalee, Dalby; Ross & Heather Milner, Bushlands Simmentals & Simbrahs, Baralaba, Qld; Robbie Shaw, Yarrayne Simmentals & Simbrahs, Esk, Qld; and Scott York, Billa Park Simmentals, Dalby, Qld.

A range of buyers were present, some looking to fill bulk order requirements in central and northern Qld through to buyers in southern Qld.

Rob & Viv Laycock, Clay Gully Simmentals, Esk gained the top price of $15,000 for their 2007 Brisbane Royal Show Grand Champion,
Clay Gully Agrow
, purchased by Brian and Arlie Wormwell, Monivae Simmentals & Simbrahs, Tara, Qld. This is the second time the Worwells have purchased the top priced bull at the annual BCM Sale.

They also gained the second top price of $11,000 for Clay Gully Abdul, Reserve Senior Champion at Brisbane Royal Show, purchased by Neville Edwards, Rolleston. Neville purchased a total of four bulls for a $7,125 average.

They also sold a $6,000 bull to Noel & Jill Mobbs, Gowrie Simmental & Simbrah stud, Charleville.
The Mobbs family bought another bull for $5,500 from the York Family's Billa Park Simmental stud, Dalby, Qld.

Rodney and Elisabeth Skene, Meldon Park Simmentals, achieved a very good result, selling 22 bulls for a $3,727 average, including the $5,500 Top priced Simbrah, Meldon Park 726, purchased by Muirhead Pastoral Co., Collinsville.

Clay Gully Agrow, 2007 Brisbane Royal Show Grand Champion Simmental Bull.
