Simmentals Impress as Feature Breed at Royal Adelaide Show

Simmental studs from South Australia, NSW and Victoria entered cattle in the Royal Adelaide Show where Simmental was the Feature Breed.

Strong sponsorship support enabled attractive prizes to be offered, ensuring a large number of entries and high quality throughout all classes.

Judge, Mr Stephen Branson, Banquet Angus stud, Mortlake, Vic, was impressed with the overall standard of entries and particularly struck by both Grand Champions.

He selected as his Supreme Champion Simmental, the Grand and Senior Champion Female, Koopa Creek Angel, exhibited by Richard White, Auscan Simmental and Simbrah stud, Adelaide, SA. The 31 month old Angel was sired by Bandeeka Dynamite out of Tennysonvale Winsome.

Auscan Simmental and Simbrah stud was awarded the Most Successful Exhibitor award after winning many ribbons. In addition to Senior Champion Female, Auscan won the other cow classes with Auscan Anthea and Langton-Gate Amaze, with Auscan Anthea winning Reserve Senior Champion Female.

Auscan achieved more awards in the bull section, winning two senior bull classes before taking Senior Champion Bull with Auscan Andrew, a 25 month old son of Ingebyra Redhead.

RH Hodge & Partners' Waterfront Simmentals, Tintinara, SA, had a very successful showing.
They were awarded Grand Champion Bull for their Junior Champion Bull, Waterfront Barclay, a 16 month old son of Waterfront Xenos.
Barclay greatly impressed the judge for his sire appeal, growth, muscling and correctness.

Waterfront also won the Breeders Group and Reserve Junior Champion Female with 11 month old Waterfront Belle, by Wai-iti Notorious.

Regan Burow's Yerwel Est Simmental stud, Naracoorte, SA, won Junior Champion Female with Yerwel Est Bambi, a 16 month old heifer by Yerwel Est Valentino.
