NZ Simmental Bulls Perform at Expo

The 2007 NZ Beef Expo, at Palmerston North in May, was another great multi breed success.

The Simmental section judging was undertaken by Jack Woodburn, Forbes, NSW, Australia, who was impressed with the overall standard of both led and unled trial bulls. He was assisted by Associate Judge, Jon Knauf, Kerrah Simmentals, Wairoa.

They selected as Supreme Champion, the Champion led bull, Hampton Downs Ralph Lauren AR40, exhibited by Malcolm and Ngaire Entwisle, Hampton Downs Simmentals, Te Kauwhata, NZ. He later sold for $11,000 to Kerry & Linda Nankervis, Lynmar Simmentals, New Plymouth.

The Champion unled bull was Kapiti Richard AR5 (ET), by Waikite Landlord AD264, exhibited by B & S Mansell, Kapiti Simmentals, Paraparaumu.

He later sold for the sale’s top price, $11,500 to Everd & Marie Strauss, Leafland Simmentals, Mosgiel.

The sale resulted in 23 bulls selling for an average $5,874.

Ngaire and Malcolm Entwisle were proud exhibitors of the Supreme Champion Bull, Hampton Downs Ralph Lauren AR40, with Associate Judge, John Knauf and Simmental NZ President, Ross Cockburn sashing the Champion, led by Catherine Rownsley and congratulated by Judge, Jack Woodburn.
