Southern Simmental Sale Tops $4,000

The 2007 Southern Simmental Sale, held at Wodonga on May 1, resulted in top prices of $3,500 for bulls and $4,000 for females.  

Despite recent rain, the drought conditions resulted in a tight sale with 11 bulls selling for a $2,614 average and 9 females selling for a $2,222 average.

The Sale was organised by the Association's NSW Branch and conducted by Elders and Landmark in Conjunction.
Ancare was the major sponsior of the Show & Sale and the Young People's program held the previous day (see separate News Item).

The Sale included a range of led and unled Simmental, Black Simmental, Red Simmental and SimAngus cattle.

The sale followed a Showing of led Sale lots, with Tom Baker, Woonallee Simmentals, Furner, SA adjudicating.

He selected as his Supreme Champion the Grand Champion Female, Bywong Park Sophie, entered by Gary and Sandra Shilg, Bywong Park, Burrumbuttock, NSW.
The dark red, polled, 18 month old Sophie was sired by Reagent Park Kev out of Brewers Karen and PTIC to Woonallee Gladiator.

Sophie later sold to Helen Rawson, Bungendore for the Sale Top Price of $4,000.

Tom Baker selected as his Grand Champion Bull, Milton View Aussie, entered by Jim and Ellen Mison, Milton View Simmentals, Milton, NSW.
Aussie was sired by Arnold's Zumutwo out of Milton View Dulcie. The 23 month old, dark red bull weighed 860 kg and had EMA of 120 sq cm.

He later sold for the sale's equal top bull price of $3,500 to Turners Mahonga Park, Rand, who were the volume buyer, selecting 5 bulls for an average $2,600.
Milton View sold 5 bulls and 3 females.

Junior Stud member, Nicole Tull, PMS Simmentals, Yea, purchased a Milton View Bull, Milton View A-Beat for the eaqual top bull price of $3,500.
She also selected two Milton View females at $1500 each - Milton View Alexandria and Milton View Beth.

Another Junior Stud member, Jessica Lewis, Karagundi Simmentals, Berry, NSW selected the $3,000 polled Skillogalee Apple Crumble (P),
entered by the Nawarra Simmentals, McLaren Vale, SA. Nawarra.

M & J Wegener and Feuerherdt Past, Tangara Simmentals, Walla Walla, NSW sold their two bulls, with Tangara Tyson A003 selling for $2,750 to
J & E Terrill & Son, Rutherglen and Tangara Tyson A014 selling for $2,000 to Turners Mahonga Park.

Lindesay and Janet Allan, Noanga Simmentals, Curlewis, NSW sold Noanga Plumbob (P) for $3,000 to Turners Mahonga Park and Noanga Faye (P)
for $1500 to J. Rich and Partners, Marapana Moruya Simmentals, Walkerville, Vic.

Alan & Marj Anderson, Wendourie Simmentals, Crookwell, sold 3 bulls to $3,000 for an average $2,500. The $3,000 bull, MAJ Napoleon - A,
was purchased by James Shaw, Mansfield, Vic.

Daryl Jones, Simmental Genetics, Moorooduc, Vic, sold a black SimAngus heifer, Simmgene Black Nora A502 (P), for $3,000 to Brewer Simmentals, Wodonga.
He also sold a Purebred Black Simmental heifer, Simmgene Black Allure (P) for $2,000 to Ian and Tracey Cary's TLC Simmentals, Hoskinstown, NSW.

Philip Semple and Donna Scaife, Compton Park Simmentals, Mooroopna, Vic sold Compton Park Bella (P) sold for $2,000 to Gary and Sandra Shilg,
