initial 2005 awards of Sire of the Year and Dam of the Year were
announced at the Association’s AGM in March, 2006. The awards were
based on points accrued in 2005.

It
is expected these awards will create a lot of interest amongst
members, with points being progressively accrued (and published) by
sires and dams and the overall awards presented annually at the AGM.
Points
are awarded for Royal and Regional Show successes, number of analysed
progeny, value of progeny transfers, performance merit on Breed Index
and Scan Carcase results.
The
Association will monitor most points, with submission of Regional Show
awards to be the owners’ responsibility. Point scoring commenced
with 2005 results.
