Simbrah Successes in Beef 2006
Prime Cattle & Carcase Competitions

Simbrah steers achieved great success in both the
Beef 2006 Prime Steer Competition and the Beef 2006 Carcase Competition.

Beef 2006 Prime Steer Competition

In the Prime Steer Competition, competition was intense with over 2,000 steers and heifers competing in 12 grainfed and grassfed classes.

Any placing in such a strong competition is a major achievement, and Simbrahs fared exceptionally well again in this competition.

Barry and Doreen Cooke, Beauchamp Simmentals & Simbrahs, Thurlane, Miles, won Class 9, (360 to 560 kg, max 2 teeth with minimum 70 days grainfeeding), with a pen of 10 Simbrah steers,  which later sold at near sale top price of $2.26 c/kg.

Ian & Judith Marshall’s Simbrahs also fared well with a class placing and a very good sale price.

Beef 2006 Carcase Competition

The innovative Carcase competition involved 200 carcases processed in 35 abattoirs across Australia, assessed using the ABCAS beef carcase appraisal system developed by NSW Dept of Primary Industry and MSA Australia.

Carcases were scored for both export and domestic market specifications, including carcase weight, yield and potential eating quality.

The four class competition included both Grainfed and grassfed classes.

Barry and Doreen Cooke, Beauchamp Simmentals & Simbrahs, Thurlane, Miles, achieved third place with 239.109 points for Simbrah in the Grainfed Chiller Beef class (180 – 300kg).

Ian & Judith Marshall, New Luscar Simmentals and Simbrahs, The Gap, gained third place with 243.624 points for Simbrah in the Grainfed Japanese Ox class, being narrowly beaten for second place.
