National Simmental Sale Tops $6,500 |

The 2006 National Simmental Sale, held at Wodonga on May 2, resulted in top prices of $6,500 for bulls and $4,500 for females. Despite
the extremely dry conditions, 17 bulls sold at auction for a $2,853
average, with most passed in bulls selling after the sale. 3
of the 4 females offered sold for an average $3,417. The
Sale followed a parade of Sale lots, with an interesting commentary by
Mel Ryan, Glenview Del Simmentals, Glenburn, Vic. A
new innovation was a Buyers Choice Award, awarded to the bull scored
most highly by buyers and vendors pre-sale. The winner was Lot 17, Brewers
Bandit Z552, with the vendor, Brewers Simmentals, presented with a
fine trophy. During the sale, they generously presented it to the
buyers of this bull. Haliotis Fisheries, Mallacoota, Vic, purchased the $6,500 top priced bull, Brewers Bandit Z552, offered by Brewers Simmentals, Wodonga. Volume
buyer was Turners Mahogna Park, Rand, NSW, who purchased 6 bulls,
including the $3,000 Noanga Backman, offered by Lindesay and Janet
Allan, Noanga Simmentals, Curlewis, NSW. John
Terrill and Son, Rutherglen, Vic, purchased two bulls for $2,000 each. Jim
& Ellen Mison, Milton View Simmentals, Milton, Vic, sold 8 bulls
for a $2,375 average. Their $3,500 top priced bull sold to Kanagra
Props, Millicent, SA. Jason
& Jacqueline Impey, Mala Daki Simmentals, Crookwell, NSW sold Mala
Daki Valentino Z229 for $3,000 to LN & JR Skeer, Millicent, SA. Angelo
Maglieri’s Nawarra Simmentals, McLaren Vale, SA, sold both their
bulls. Skillogalee Zapper sold for $4,500 to Lyn and Margy Frame, Vite
Vite North, Vic and Skillogalee Zirros sold for $4,000 to HS Shaw,
Mansfield, Vic. They
also sold their two females for a $2,875 average, including
Skillogalee Zazzy for $3,000 to Lisa Harrison, Fernhill, Lowesdale,
Vic. Gunter
Krohn, Ingebyra, Frankston, sold a PTIC heifer, Ingebyra Susan 1 (P),
for $4,500 to Richard White, Auscan Simmentals, Adelaide. Sale Summary
