Despite drought conditions in much of Southern NSW, Simmental bulls and females sold to strong competition at the Prime Beef Sale, Illabo. 23 Simmental bulls (79%) sold to a top of $4,000 and an average $2,685. 19 Simmental females (90%) sold to a top of $3,500 and an average $2,024 Simmental SalesBULLS FEMALES
Ian & Cheryl Baldry’s Tennysonvale Simmentals, Ivanhoe, Illabo, hosted the sale and sold 11 Simmental bulls and 16 Simmental females. Their top priced bull, Tennysonvale Zeek, sold for $3,750 to David McCowley, Cooma North. Warren Salway, Wandellapark Simmental stud, Cobargo, NSW, purchased Tennysonvale Yarrawonga for $3,500. Top priced Simmental bull at the sale was the $4,000 Wormbete Zion, sold by John & Nichole Hopkins, Wormbete Simmentals, Illabo to Gary & Joy Allen, Tugulawa Simmentals, Mount Gambier, SA. The Wormbete bulls averaged $2,778, including two SimAngus (Red) bulls which fetched $2,750 each. Carl Baldry, Baldry Park Simmentals, Illabo, sold the top priced $3,500 Simmental heifer, Baldry Park Zara to Sunny Root, Adelong, who purchased two other Simmental females for $1,900 each. Peter Trevan, Hazeldell Simmentals, Leongatha, Vic, purchased three Simmental females, Tennysonvale Zita for $2,500, Tennysonvale Zandra for $2,400 and Tennysonvale Zwell for $2,250. Graham & Dianne Corney, Bilanda Simmentals, South Bowenfels, NSW, sold a Simmental bull, Bilanda for $3,000 and a heifer for $1,900. Shellie Corney, Marindah Simmentals, South Bowenfels, NSW sold a Simmental bull for $2,500 and a heifer for $1,500.
