Inaugural Co-op Black Simmental Sale 
Hits $9,000 Top Price

The inaugural Cooper-Cornell, Co-Op Black Simmental Sale was held on farm, Redbank, Tarcutta, NSW in March with an outstanding result.

Demand for purebred Black Simmental bulls and females was extremely strong, with the draft of animals from imported embryos selling to a top of $9,000 for bulls and $8,000 for heifers.

There was a very large attendance at the combined Black Simmental and Angus stud sale, with most interest shown in the new genetics, Black Simmentals on offer.

15 Black Simmental bulls sold to $9,000 for a $5,166 average.

  8 Black Simmental heifers sold to $8,000 for a $6,437 average.

34 Black Simmental embryos sold to $2,300 each for a $778 average.

15 Angus bulls sold to $4,500 for a $3,708 average.

Stud principal, Jeremy Cooper was very pleased with the inaugural sale result, which he said vindicated his commitment to Black Simmental genetics which he believes will play an increasingly important role in the Australian beef industry.

Adori Pty Ltd, Cattle Camp, Gerogery, NSW secured the $9,000 top priced bull,
Co-op Z0425, by GW Lucky One 686K out of GW Miss Orlando 193L.

The Bull family, Inverell, NSW secured 7 of the 8 heifers, paying the top price of $8,000 twice.

They also snapped up an embryo package of 4 CNS Dream On L186/JBS Miss MT 905L embryos for $2,300 each and 6 embryos by Nichols Black Destiny D12 out of JBS Miss MT 905L for $1,100 each.

Brewer & Harrison, Holbrook, NSW secured a bull for $7,500, Co-Op Z0422 by GW Lucky Dice 187H out of GW Miss Wally 854G.

Cliff & Joy York, Miles, Qld., snapped up the $6,500 bull Co-op Z0407, by GW Lucky One 686K out of GW Miss Lucky Buck 983J. They also purchased the $5,000 Co-op Z0415, by GW Lucky Dice 187H out of GW Miss Wally 854G.

Michael Morgan, Vic., bought the $6,500 Co-Op Z0427 by GW Lucky Dice 187H  out of Miss Wally 854G.

Long time Black Simmental breeder, Rob Childs, Carrisbrook Simmentals, Benalla, Vic., selected the $6,000 Co-Op Z0404, by the same breeding, GW Lucky One 686K out of GW Miss Lucky Buck 983J.
