Yardstick Scoops the Pool in NZ

Congratulations to Tony and Glennis Thompson, GlenAnthony Simmentals, Waipukurau, NZ for their outstanding success at the NZ Royal Show, Hamilton, with their Australian bull, Monreid Yardstick, purchased for $25,000 from Rory and Patricia Murphy, Monreid Simmentals, Nundle, NSW after he was judged Supreme Champion at Sydney Royal Show this year.

Part of a NZ Press Report by Philip Wilson is quoted:

“The Thompsons have competed at many shows, including many Royal Shows. This year they entered their Australian imported bull, Monreid Yardstick, in the Royal Show.

This fine bull is set to make a huge impact in New Zealand, going by the success at the Royal Show.

With this bull, the stud won the Champion Senior and Supreme Champion Simmental bull, Champion Senior Bull of all breeds and Supreme Champion Beef Animal of the show.

He then went on to win the Meat and Wool Cup, which is considered to be the ultimate achievement at any show. But that was not to be the last of the rewards for the stud. The most prestigious trophy of all is the Johnny Rodgers Centennial Trophy for the Supreme Animal of all species – won by Yardstick.”
