A resurgence in popularity of Simmentals was evident at the dispersal sale of Peter and Kerry Tull’s Murrinstone Simmental stud, Yea, Victoria on 4^th November.

81 head sold to a top of $7,750 for an average of $2,377 and an impressive clearance of 86%. Buyers were represented from Victoria, South Australia, NSW and Queensland.

Peter and Kerry dispersed their stud herd after more than 30 years in building a productive and successful Simmental stud herd. They were very pleased with the sale result, which grossed $185,950 and wished all purchasers great success with their future Simmental breeding programs.

Top priced lot was lot 34, a cow & calf pair, Murrinstone Yanga, by Johill Park Tyson, purchased for $7,750 by Don Mathieson’s Brenair Park Simmentals, Hawthorn, Vic. Brenair Park purchased a total of 7 lots, including the $7,000 lot 60, Murrinstone Z434, a class winner at Royal Melbourne Show 2005 and also sired by Johill Park Tyson,.

P & A Staglietti, Ponkeen, Euroa, Vic purchased Lot 78, Murrinstone Z447, the Supreme Exhibit and Grand and Junior Champion bull at Royal Melbourne Show 2005 for $5,000. They also purchased his dam for $4,250 and lot 39, an impressive cow and calf pair, Murrinstone X049 for $5,300.

Doug and Jan Bradshaw, Red Range, Wandoan, Qld, snapped up a good line of 8 females for an average $2,917 to add to their high Simmental content herd. Their top priced purchase was lot 41, a cow and calf pair, Murrinstone X046 for $4,700.

Bill and Elaine Sleep, Billanbri, Woolsthorpe, Vic, selected 9 lots for an average $2,663 to boost their successful commercial herd. Their purchases included lot 35, a cow and calf pair, Murrinstone Yulara for $4,600

Justin Staley, Juraley Simmentals, Yarram, Vic, purchased a total of 13 lots to build his new stud herd, including Lot 33, a $2,300 cow and calf pair, Murrinstone Ulmara.

Chris and Sharon Jordan, Ten-Rose Simmentals, Longwarry, Vic selected a heifer, Lot 18, Brenair Park Bernadett 102, for $4,500.

Other volume buyers included C J White (5 lots), Michael Sullivan, Calmyra Simmentals, Tatura, Vic (5 lots), Locheil (5 lots), B. Hern (4 lots), Mr Bailey (4 lots), Bev Underwood, Wangaratta (3 lots), D. Sherwill, Marvid Park Simmentals, Benalla (3 lots).
