Gowrie Simmental & Simbrah Sale posts record Top of $14,500 and Average $6,181 |

65 Simmental and Simbrah bulls sold to a top of $14,500 and averaged $6,181, for a 100% clearance, setting a record at the Mobbs family's Gowrie on property stud bull sale in September. The $6,181 average was well up on the 2004 average of $4,033 and the 2003 average of $2,730. Noel and Jill Mobbs and their family, Gowrie, Charleville were delighted with the result, pointing to the strong resurgence in popularity of Simmental and Simbrah in boosting herd performance and higher commercial sale prices. The Moore family, Lucrana Simmentals, Texas, purchased the top priced $14,500 Simmental bull, Gold Park Zack. At 21 months of age, Zack weighed 805 kg and had a scrotal size of 40 cm. He was sired by Vintage Matador out of the famed Gold Park Esmerelda. Second top price was $10,500 was achieved several times. Mt Macquarie Past Co, Blackall selected one, Gowrie Y054, weighing 930 kg. They also paid $9,000 for Gowrie Y009. The Webster family, Meandarra, paid $10,500 for the 835 kg 21 month old Gowrie Z015, boasting a 45.5 cm scrotal size. Peter Emery, Lockerbie Farms, Roma snapped up the 815 kg Gowrie Y069 for $10,000 and Gowrie Y078 for $7,500. The Allan family, Daracourt, Blackall, was a repeat volume buyer, selecting 10 bulls for an average $6,650, including the 21 month old 810 kg Gowrie Z032 for $9,000. The Mobbs family, Wallambank, Bollon, purchased four high quality bulls for a $8,062 average. The Byrant family, Cytherea, Mitchell, snapped up five very good bulls for an average $4,850. Lassvale Past Co., Foyleview, Mitchell were repeat buyers, selecting five very good bulls for a $5,750 average. The sale
