Simmental judge at Royal Adelaide Show, Mr Lachlan Day, Bordertown, SA, described the Simmental exhibits as an impressive display of the breed, featuring moderate frame size and maturity pattern, with good structure, good weight for age and strong muscling plus the excellent maternal traits for which the breed is famed.  

He was also impressed with the Simbrah display, commenting that this breed had much to offer the beef industry, combining performance with adaptability.

SIMMENTAL

Mr Day selected as his Supreme Champion Simmental, the Grand Champion Female and Junior Champion Female, Woonallee Lucy Z033, a fully pigmented  15 month old, bred and exhibited by Tom Baker, Woonallee Simmentals, Furner, SA. She was sired by Grimich Park Stynes T36, out of Woonallee T0011 and was described by the judge as an outstanding heifer with great breeding potential.

Grand Champion Bull was awarded to the Junior Champion Bull, Auscan Zed, bred and exhibited by Richard White, Auscan Simmentals, Adelaide. A 16 month old son of Woonallee Whynot out of Auscan Topsy, he was described as a very promising breed improving sire. 

Senior Champion Bull was awarded to Grantley and Vicki Muller's Rellum Farms Yago, a 23 month old son of Munga Park Frederick out of Rellum Farms Pamina (P).

Senior Champion Female was awarded to Woonallee Jeannie Y43, a fully pigmented  30 month old, bred and exhibited by Tom Baker, Woonallee Simmentals, Furner, SA. She was sired by NGA Tawa Braveheart AG33 and was described by the judge as an outstanding female of any breed.

Reserve Senior Champion female was awarded to Waterfront Victory, exhibited by R H Hodge & Partners, Waterfront Simmentals, Goolwa, SA.  

Reserve Juniopr Champion female was awarded to Woonallee Daisy, exhibited by Woonallee Simmentals.

Reserve Senior Champion Bull was awarded to Bokara Yongala, exhibited by Shirley Barker, Bokara Simmentals, Mount Gambier.

Reserve Junior Champion Bull was awarded to Woonallee Gladiator, exhibited by Woonallee Simmentals.

The Simmental Sires Progeny Group was won by R H Hodge & Partners (Waterfront Usher), with Woonallee gaining second (BHR Three Sixes) and P & MC Maglieri, Nawarra Simmentals, McLaren Vale, SA gaining third (GlenView Del Vic).

The Breeders Group was also won by Woonallee Simmentals, with R H Hodge & Partners gaining second and P & M C Maglieri gaining third.  

SIMBRAH

Mr Day selected as his Grand Champion Bull the 26 month Auscan Yalumba, exhibited by Richard White, Auscan Simbrah stud, Adelaide. He also won the Grand Champion Female award with his 14 month old heifer Auscan Zephyr.

Auscan Simbrah stud also won the Sires Progeny Group (Auscan Vorster) and the Breeder's Group.
