$12,000 Simmental Bull Tops Hills of Gold Sale, Nundle

 

A top price of $12,000 was paid for a Simmental bull at the annual Hills of Gold Simmental Sale, Nundle. Strong buying pressure ensured a complete clearance of 37 bulls for an average $4,480.

Vendors were pleased with the result which demonstrated renewed keen interest in the Simmental breed for crossbreeding. Four vendors offering these bulls were Peter & Judy Howarth’s Langton Gate Poll Simmentals, Nundle, Rory & Patricia Murphy’s Monreid Simmentals, Nundle, Graham & Sandra Jordan’s Goonoo Creek Simmentals, Tamworth and Derek & Shelley Piper’s Piper Simmentals, Coolah.

The $12,000 top priced bull was the extremely well muscled, soft, polled bull, Langton Gate Xtra Special, purchased by Greg Upton, Alpha, Niangala to use in his commercial breeding herd.

Peter Trevan, Hazel Del Simmentals, Leongatha, Vic, secured the $10,000 second top priced bull, the polled Langton Gate Yacka to top up his stud sire battery.

Karoola Past Co, Woolomin, purchased two bulls, Langton Gate Yalumba for $8,000 and Goonoo Creek Zappa for $3,500.

Three Queensland buyers purchased bulls. Roley and Jenny Walker, Iwona, Mitchell selected the $7,750 polled Langton Gate Yamaha. Barry and Doreen Cooke, Beauchamp Simmental/Simbrah stud, Miles, Qld secured the $6,500 Langton Gate Yeoman. Ian and Judith Marshall, New Luscar Simmental.Simbrah stud, The Gap, Qld selected the $5,500 polled Langton Gate Yonkers.

The Kelly family, Currabubula, purchased the top priced Monreid bull, the $7,000 Monreid Yawl, Sydney Show Reserve Champion.

The Rankins, Quirindi secured the top priced Goonoo Creek bull for $5,000, Brisbane Show Grand Champion, Goonoo Creek Zammit.

Frampton Farms purchased the top priced Piper bull, Piper Yachty for $4,500.

Repeat volume buyers Roger Grant, Nundle selected two Monreid bulls for $5,000 and $4,000.

Another repeat buyer, Ian Chaffey, Dungowan purchased two bulls at $5,000 and $3,500.

Nani Investments, South Grafton purchased two bulls for $4,000 and $3,500 and the Simmons family, Willow Tree selected two at $3,500 each.
