A large attendance of stud and commercial buyers bid strongly for the females and semen offered at the Langton Gate Poll Simmental dispersal sale, Wombramurra, Nundle, May 20. Greg & Jeanette Huggins, Dandavjon Simmentals, Mount Egerton, Vic, secured the top priced lot for $7,250, lot 100, LANGTON-GATE W0122 (P) a polled 3 year old heifer, PTIC to Dunmore Hawkeye 11. Chris and Sharon Jordan, Ten-Rose Simmentals, Longwarry, Vic, secured the top priced semen lot for $900 per straw for 7 straws of Dunmore Hansa. They also purchased 2 other semen lots. Second top price of $5,500 was paid twice. RH Hodge and Partners, Waterfront Simmentals, Goolwa, SA, paid $5,500 for lot 16, LANGTON-GATE U0242, a 5 year old cow with a polled heifer calf. Rodney and Elisabeth Skene, Meldon Park Simmentals, Dalby, Qld, also paid $5,500 for lot 131, LANGTON-GATE 0Y0035, a 21 month old heifer AId to Drawmar Dunedin. They purchased a total of 10 females and 3 semen lots to further build their successful Queensland stud herd. Derek and Shelley Piper, Piper Simmentals, Coolah, NSW, purchased lot 15 for $5,000, LANGTON-GATE U0233 (P), a five year old polled cow with a polled bull calf. They purchased an additional 3 females. Robert and Marylin Flannery, Bonhomie Simmentals, Dungog, NSW, purchased the $5,000 lot 25, LANGTON-GATE W0113, a three year old Kelly View Paul/ Everton Lauren daughter with a polled heifer calf. Dr Peter Trevan, Hazel Dell Simmentals, Leongatha, Vic, was a volume buyer, securing 10 females, including the $4,500 lot 76, LANGTON-GATE S0016 (P), a 7 year old polled cow by LG Quitecorrect. Included in his selections were two females at $4,000 each, one at $3,750 and two at $3,500. Dr Richard White, Auscan Simmental and Simbrah studs, Adelaide, SA, was another volume buyer, securing 9 females and 2 semen lots. These included the $3,250 lot 36, LANGTON-GATE W0201 (P), a polled 3 year old Hawkeye 11 daughter with a polled heifer calf. David Lamond, Kyogle, NSW, purchased two females for a $4,000 average, including the $4,250 lot 48, LANGTON-GATE X025, a 2 year old Elton Polled Western daughter with a polled bull calf. Stan & Beryl White, Vintage Simmentals, Kingaroy, Qld, purchased 2 polled females for $4,000 each and one semen lot. Graham and Sandra Jordan, Goonoo Creek Simmentals, Tamworth, NSW, secured a total of 5 females and 7 semen lots, including the $2,500 lot 113, LANGTON-GATE W0210, a 3 year old female AId to Dunmore Hawkeye 11. They were also joint purchasers with TRS & MA Baker's Woonallee Simmentals, Furner, SA, of the $2,250 lot 153, LANGTON-GATE Z0100 (P) a polled weaner heifer by Bar 5 Pol Blaze. Woonallee also secured 3 females, including the $4,750 lot 63, LANGTON-GATE NONSENSE (P), an 11 year old polled cow by Penbro Park Heidelberg. Mel & Gina Ryan, Glenview Del Simmentals, Glenburn, Vic, selected the $3,500 lot 83, LANGTON-GATE T0102, a 6 year old daughter of Barana Marcus. JC & LC Kenman, Conora Park Simmentals, Redland Bay, Qld, purchased lot 53 for $3,250, LANGTON-GATE X032 . Lindesay and Janet Allan, Noanga Simmentals, Curlewis, NSW, secured 7 females for an average $1,714. Jeogla Station, Wallamumbi, NSW purchased 3 females for an average $3,167, including two at $3,500, lot 14, LANGTON-GATE T0107 (P) and lot 38, LANGTON-GATE X004 . Muriel Capel, Ouyen, Barraba selected 3 females for an average $2,750 and a top of $3,000. Stephen Tyson, Mallee Simmentals, Griffith, NSW, secured 3 females for an average $2,417, to a top of $3,000 for lot 98, LANGTON-GATE V0039 (P). NT & EE Kammholz, Kurtrel Simmentals, Lowood, Qld, secured 3 females for an average $1,917, to a top of $3,000 for lot 157, LANGTON-GATE Z0107 (P). Jason Coglan, Oberon, NSW secured 18 females for an average $1,458 for his commercial crossbreeding herd. Daryl Lavender, Tamworth district commercial cattle breeder, bought 9 females for an average $1,722. C J & DM Love, Murwillumbah, NSW, purchased 4 females for an average $1,750. Lots Numerous secondary shares and accredited sire semen lots were offered, with strong demand for some of the high performance, difficult to acquire lots. A highlight sale was Dunmore Hansa, with 7 straws selling for $900 each to Chris and Sharon Jordan, Ten-Rose Simmentals, Longwarry, Vic. A total of 90 lots, comprising 1,296 straws sold for a total value of $38,985 and an average $433 per lot or average $30 per straw.
