$10,000 Top Price at National Simmental Sale

 

The 2005 National Show and Sale, held at Wodonga on May 3, resulted in top prices of $10,000 for bulls and $6,000 for females.  

Solid demand was evident despite the extremely dry conditions prevailing in most areas, with a healthy 74% clearance of bulls.

20 Simmental bulls sold for a $3,812 average ($400 higher than last year), with further sales made after the auction.

6 Simmental females sold for a strong $3,166 average.

National Sale Highlights  

Bulls

Frank and Francie Rizzo, Trijena Park Simmentals, Mickleham, Vic, were the successful purchasers of the $10,000 top priced bull, Trenton Farms Power Packed (P), offered by Grant Frater's Trenton Farms Simmentals, Binnaway, NSW. The 25 month 990 kg dark red, polled bull had impressive weight and milk EBVs and sported 123 sq cm EMA and 5mm fat cover at rump and rib plus a 47 cm scrotal circumference.

Second top price of $6,500 was achieved twice.

Peter Saglietti, Euroa, secured Delelvin Lock it In for $6,500, offered by Clinton Maxwell's Delelvin Simmentals, Tamworth.

The heaviest bull, at 1,060 kg, Rowlon Park Grandslam, offered by Don Buchanan's Rowlon Park Simmentals, Moama, NSW was secured by Haliotis Fisheries, Genoa, Vic for $6,500.

P & MC Maglieri, Skillogalee Simmentals, McLaren Vale, SA sold two bulls for a $5,000 average. H.S. Shaw, Mansfield, Vic purchased the $5,500 polled Skillogalee Yankee (P) and BF & JV O'Connor, Jinderra, NSW purchased the $4,500 Skillogalee Y-Max.

Bill and Elaine Almond's Kensileyre Simmentals, Wagga, NSW sold their Kensileyre Starmaker for $4,500 to repeat buyers, Winderadeen Corporation, Wantabadgery, NSW.

Dean and Hazel Baker's Callendale Simmentals, Naracoorte, SA, secured the youngest bull, the dark red, well muscled, polled Eando Jamie (P) for $4,250, offered by Heather Emonson and family's Eando Simmentals, Cootamundra, NSW.

Charles Medland & Co, Shepparton, Vic, bought three bulls, the $3,000 Mala-Daki Neptune Y204, offered by J & J Impey, Mala-Daki Simmentals, Crookwell, NSW, the $3,000 Ingebyra Raimund (P) offered by Gunter Krohn, Ingebyra Simmentals, Frankston, Vic., and the $2,250 Milton View Commando, offered by Jim and Ellen Mison's Milton View Simmentals, Milton, NSW.

Repeat buyer, J.W. & R.D. McErvale, Branxholme, Vic, purchased two bulls, the $3,750 Coolaroy Yasser, offered by Terry and Susan Coolahan's, Coolaroy Simmentals, Terang, Vic., and the $3,000 Milton View Knockout, offered by Jim and Ellen Mison.

R.A. and T.M. Johnston, Cowra, NSW purchased two bulls, the $3,000 Johill Park Yemen, offered by John and Michael Napolitano's Johill Park Simmentals, Wallan East, Vic., and the $2,000 Trijena York offered by F & F Rizzo, Trijena Simmentals, Mickleham.

JF & EM Terrill & Sons, Rutherglen, Vic, bought two Ebony Park bulls for $2,000 each -  Ebony Park X-Files and Ebony Park Yankee (P), offered by GW, MF and S Kunst, Ebony Park Simmentals, Cudlee Creek, SA.

M & W Ritchie, Orbost, Vic bought Reagentpark King for $3,000, offered by Barbara Sutton and Garry Clarke's Reagentpark Simmentals, Warragul.

Ross Moffitt, Bega, NSW, purchased the $3,000 Milton View Cowboy, offered by Jim and Ellen Mison and the $2,000 Bokara Yate, offered by Dr Shirley Barker's Bokara Simmentals, Mt Gambier, SA.

Females

The dark red 15 month old Delelvin Lookalike, offered by Clinton Maxwell, Delelvin Simmentals, Tamworth, NSW was secured for $6,000 by Nigel Seaton's Els Simmentals, Mt Gambier, SA.

Elaine and William Sleep, Billanbri, Woolsthorpe, Vic, secured three females, including the $2,750 Delelvin Goldy Locks, the $3,000 Ingebyra Isabella (P) and the $2,500 Ingebyra Francesca (P), both polled heifers offered by Gunter Krohn.

Richard White, Auscan Simmentals, Echunga, SA, bought the $2,750 Milton View Nette Girl, offered by Jim and Ellen Mison's Milton View Simmentals, Milton, NSW.
