Simmental Bull Sale Tops $8,800

The Cowcher family’s 17th annual Willandra, (previously Quaindering), Simmental Bull Sale achieved the top price for WA Simmental sales this year, when their Lot 3, Willandra Yazoo was purchased for $8,800 by Bill and Elaine Almond’s Kensileyre Simmentals, Wagga Wagga, NSW. Sired by Quaindering Vodka out of Quaindering Duchess U88, Yazoo boasted an impressive set of Weight and Carcase EBVs. The cherry red, muscly bull displayed excellent temperament and will be used as a source of new genetics in the Kensileyre stud herd. The sale averaged $3,743 for 23 bulls, with others selling after the auction.
Rod Petchell purchased the $6,000 second top priced bull, Lot 4, Willandra Yanchep, by Naracoopa Umpire out of Quaindering Olive W24. Also carrying an impressive set of EBVs and will be used as a replacement bull in the Petchell’s successful commercial herd. P & B Smith, Busselton, purchased Willandra Yonga, a Quaindering Trait Leader son, for $5,600. GW McKeen bought two bulls, Willandra Yindi, a highly muscled son of Piper Dot Com for $5,200 and Willandra Yass for $2,500. GR & P Parsons & Sons, Pingelly, bought another of the highly muscled sons of Piper Dot Com for $5,200. Lyndford Farms, Williams secured a Q. Rastus son, Willandra Yak for $5,000. Eldon Beef, Williams bought a Q. Trait Leader son, Willandra Yelverton for $4,600. Alan Horley snapped up the EBV impressive Willandra Yeoman for $4,200. Scott River Plains bought Q. Trait Leader son, Willandra Yachty for $3,800. The highly muscled sons of Piper Dot Com proved popular, with GG & HM Evans securing Willandra Yobbo for $4,400, Andrew Halter, Esperance, securing Willandra Yo-Yo for $3,000, and Kevin and Janice Hard, Naraccopa Simmentals, Denmark, securing Willandra Yandina for $2,800. Repeat buyers, RM & MD Cowcher, Williams, bought Willandra Yea for $3,000 and Willandra Yabby for $3,000. The Plant;’s Vulcan Downs bought 3 bulls for $2,500 each. C & J Luciani bought one for $2,500 and Wandarrah Farming Co bought one for $2,500 and the Schultz family, Willaiams bought one for $2,500.
