Simmental
judge at Royal Canberra Show, Mr Bill Dunlop, Nandillyan, Molong, described the Simmental
exhibits as an impressive display of the breed, featuring growth and
muscle in the bulls and milk and maternal traits in the females, all
important profit drivers. Mr
Dunlop selected as his Supreme Champion Simmental, the Grand and
Senior Champion Bull, Eando Jasper, an
18 month old son of Tennysonvale Trixcy
out of Eando
Luceele and exhibited by Heather Emonson,
Eando Simmentals, Cootamundra. Heather
had a highly successful showing, gaining Reserve Junior Champion Bull
with Eando Jamie, by the Supreme Champion Eando Jasper. Heather
also won both the Breeders Group and the Sire’s Progeny
Group (Eando Jasper) classes plus various class ribbons. Heather
Emonson’s successes culminated in being awarded Most Successful
Exhibitor. Grand
Champion Female was awarded to the Senior
Champion Female, Brewers Gwen V186, by Brewers Alexandra out of
Tirra Lirra Gwen, exhibited by David & Tara Brewer, Brewers
Simmentals, Wodonga. The
Brewers were also highly successful, gaining Junior Champion Female with
Reagentpark Jewel by Reagentpark Lucky One out of Reagentpark Jenna
and Reserve

class ribbons. Paul
and Bev Holloway, PBH Simmentals, Forbes, gained a first in the Bull
Over 9 Months and not over 12 Months class with PBH
Zeus and first in the Heifer
Over 9 Months and not Over 12 Months
class with PBH Zeus, bothy by Wondenia Ughie. Clinton
Leahy, Charltonpark Simmentals, Cobargo, NSW, gained a first in the Cow
or Heifer Over 24 Months and not Over 30 Months class with Milton
View Mistress. Clinton also competed successfully with a Simmental
steer. Warren
Salway, Wandellapark Simmentals, Cobargo, NSW, in their first showing at
Canberra, gained a second and two third ribbons. Richmond High School successfully competed in the steer showing with a Simmental steer donated by Bill and Elaine Almond’s Kensileyre Simmentals, Wagga Wagga, NSW.
